Stephen Galloway is a contemporary artist living in San Francisco, California. Using the tradition of landscape photography as a launch pad, he focuses on new ways of seeing nature. The large-scale photographs and installations question reality and nature. With every branch, seed and leaf meticulously rendered at life size, Galloway strips nature down and reassembles the elements in relationship with human design.
Galloway has exhibited his large-scale photographs regionally and nationally. His work is included in many individual, corporate and public collections. In addition to photographs, Galloway has completed a number of commissions. The commissioned projects are photographic, but fabricated with materials such as polyurethane, acrylic, enamel and glass. He is currently working on a major suite of glass works for the new General Hospital in San Francisco.
Stephen Galloway is also Associate Professor of photography at Sonoma State University.
